Bluworld creates new frameless water feature design for Midstate Medical Center
When Bluworld was commissioned to design and install an indoor 20+ ft. tall and 15+ ft. wide stainless steel and glass water feature as a focal point for patients in the main lobby of MidState Medical Center in Meridan, CT, they faced a new water feature design challenge. Midstate Medical Center wanted Bluworld to create a frameless water feature with the water on the back side of the glass, as to eliminate exposure of the water to avoid splashing or human contact, which would result in contamination of the water. However, creating a water feature with the running water on the backside raised installation and maintenance conflicts.

Bluworld’s solution for the water feature was to create a fully integrated rolling ladder system, which is concealed within a 24-inch space on the side of the feature, and attached to brackets on the ceiling and spanned the entire height of the water feature. Bluworld also utilized 18 ft. tall panels of clear tempered glass, which is the tallest available in the U.S., giving it the frameless water feature appearance. As a result of Bluworld’s design creativity, the water feature not only utilized as little space as possible, but was also a safe and easy solution for installing the panels and for the user’s water feature maintenance. Bluworld not only overcame a new water feature design challenge with this project, but also gained another satisfied client.
